DescriptionUnder the direct supervision of the SVP of Dental Services, Dental Residency and Learning Institute Coordinator, SMs, and ASMs, the Dental Radiology Student will assist dentists and dental hygienists in the primary provision of care to patients and manage sterilization, preparation, and inventory of dental instruments and supplies.

All dental radiology students must have reliable transportation, travel between multiple office locations, and obtain a valid BLS certification prior to their start date. Essential Job Functions- Serves as dentist’s or dental hygienist’s chair-side assistant
- Prepares operatory for patient treatment according to Dental Department protocols and the dentist’s or hygienist’s direction
- Assists patients in resolving minor difficulties, answering questions, and giving directions as authorized by the dentist or hygienist
- Exposes and develops dental radiographs in accordance with state regulations, law, and Dental Department directive and protocol
- Performs independent procedures as delegated by the dentist in accordance with state regulation, law, and Dental Department directive and protocol
- Maintains dental Department equipment per manufacturer’s directions and Department policy and protocol
- Maintains all Department areas in compliance with infection control, exposure control, and safety protocols
- Maintains adequate operatory supplies and compiles shortage lists for inventory control and ordering
- Ensures sterility of all clinical materials and equipment per infection control policies and industry standards
- Maintains patient lists, monitors flow, and assists management in accurate record keeping
- Receives telephone calls consistent with professional matters and patient care
- Assists with various clinical and administrative functions as appropriate
- Insures sterility of reusable instruments and equipment per protocol
- Ensures proper disposal of contaminated materials per policy and regulation
- Performs all functions in compliance with Exposure Control Plan, PPE, and Universal Precautions
- Participates in health promotion and disease prevention activities on- and off-site as required
- Travels when necessary to meet operational needs
- Performs other related tasks to achieve organizational goals and objectives
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, local, and ZHC rules; follows regulations and protocols, including HIPAA confidentiality
- Conducts routine dental unit testing
- Provides necessary coverage of auxiliary staff when needed, including lunch and late coverage
- Demonstrates and teaches new staff, students, interns, and volunteers proper use of equipment and protocols
- Works in patient intake areas as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Comprehensive knowledge of dental assisting techniques and procedures for all phases of general dentistry
- Knowledge of modern dental materials, storage, handling, and applications
- Completion of an accredited dental assisting course preferred
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Creative collaboration with other health care professionals to achieve patient outcomes
- Effective oral and written communication in English required
- Effective oral communication in Spanish preferred
- Empathetic and professional care for diverse patient populations
- Ability to work with diverse social, ethnic, and economic backgrounds
- Work under stressful conditions and irregular hours may be required
- Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, radiation, and other clinical conditions may occur
- Prolonged sitting or standing required
- Manual dexterity, hand‑eye coordination, and proficiency with telephones, computers, and copiers required
- Will apply trauma‑informed care principles within the scope of the position
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Fluent in English; fluency in Spanish preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, typing, and electronic medical records required

$17 per hour
