Engineering Technician position at Universal Technical Resource Services, Inc. (UTRS)

Universal Technical Resource Services, Inc. (UTRS) is currently seeking an Engineering Technician to join our team. This full‑time position is located in Dover, NJ and requires a U.S. security clearance.

• Ensure the safety of handling, security, accountability, transportation, storage, inventory, repack, and demilitarization of ammunition and explosives for classified and experimental US and foreign energetic items.
• Interpret and modify test precedents to meet new test requirements.
• Follow guidelines established by project plans, policy, and SOPs.
• Assist with internal and external inspections/audits for explosive safety, environmental accountability/logistics.
• Conduct quarterly inventories of Arms, Ammunition & Explosives (AA&E) storage facilities/magazines and ensure accurate records of all items stored.
• Ensure energetic materials waste and hazardous waste resulting from various operations are properly disposed in accordance with all applicable government regulations.
• Conduct test projects on a variety of large and small caliber armament systems, subsystems, munitions, ammunition, explosives, energetics and components.
• Support testing, set up and operate equipment or data gathering instrumentation to ensure tests are conducted and data recorded per the test plan.
• Use precision measuring instruments specially designed for testing armament systems, subsystems, and components.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Must be able to obtain a clearance through the DoD security background investigation process.
• Pass drug and alcohol testing.
• Must have good mechanical skills and experience.
• Must be able to pass medical surveillance testing specific to job duties working with energetic materials.
• High standard of quality and efficiency.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be a team player, able to multitask and prioritize accordingly.
• Basic PC knowledge (MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Must be able to work in a physical capacity, lifting and moving heavy objects.
• Must be willing to work with live ammunition items such as fuzes, grenades, projectiles, and pyrotechnic devices.
• Firearms experience can be from military or law enforcement experience or hobbyist/hunting.
• Will be required to handle small arms propellant.
• Must be able to take and pass AMMO‑45 online certification and appropriate safety training provided by the test facility.
• Must have a valid NJ driver’s license and be able to obtain a government driver’s license.
• High School diploma required, college degree not required but beneficial.
• Past or present military personnel are encouraged to apply.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Security Clearance.
