Production Worker (Etcher – 2nd Shift)

Position OverviewEtchers are responsible for dipping castings into a chemical sequence to clean the metal. The role is certified and requires 400 hours of training.
Shift DetailsMidnight Shift – Sunday night through Thursday night, 10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Training is Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Compensation and Benefits- Hourly rate: $24.79 on start, $27.35 after 12 months

- Test acid strength with test plates at the start of each shift
- Load castings into racks and baskets for etching preparation
- Dip racks/baskets in ferric acid and water tanks; inspect for grain quality
- Unload parts for oven drying; place into hot air oven for inspection
- Record data on parts using the Lot Trace System
- Replace acid to maintain strength, pumping and drumming as needed
- Swab rework parts with ferric acid solution and verify adherence
- Verify part counts against Lot Trace ticket; move parts to crystal verification
- Ensure all equipment is in proper working condition and perform system capability checks
- Score 100 % on the practical certification test
- Become certified to remain in the position; maintain ability to perform required tasks
- Assist in implementing Alcoa/Howmet EHS policies and principles
- Comply with all department, facility, corporate and regulatory EH&S regulations
- Wear all required personal protective equipment
- Report all job‑related illnesses, injuries and safety concerns promptly
- Attend all EH&S training sessions
- Access to export‑controlled items; employment offers conditioned on lawful access
- Legally authorized to work in the United States; verification required at hire (no visa sponsorship)
- High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution
- Residency within 50 miles of Dover, NJ (no relocation benefit)
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, with little notice
- Experience working with chemicals (a plus)
- Pass Level I certification test after 420 hours of training
- Pass a visual exam
- Frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds
- Hot manufacturing work environment
