Resident Engineer

Coordinate and oversee various construction bridge, IDOT, and tollway projects. Administer pay estimates, change orders, RFI’s, and documentation of contract quantities in compliance with IDOT and ISTHA standards. Conduct quality control site inspections to ensure adherence to project requirements and specifications. Oversee junior field inspectors to assign daily tasks and manage documentation processes. Collaborate with clients and contractors to manage construction budgets and schedules.

Maintain project documentation, such as progress reports, site diaries, and construction logs.

• Coordinate and oversee bridge, IDOT, and tollway construction projects.
• Administer pay estimates, change orders, RFI’s, and document contract quantities.
• Conduct quality control site inspections for project compliance.
• Oversee junior field inspectors and manage daily task assignments.
• Work with clients and contractors to manage budgets and schedules.
• Maintain project documentation, including progress reports, site diaries, and logs.

• Experience in roadway construction, construction oversight, and inspection.
• Proficiency in construction management, civil engineering, and civil construction.
• Familiarity with IDOT and tollway construction standards.
• Experience with CMMS and/or e-Builder.
• Strong communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• 7+ years of experience as a Resident Engineer or Civil Inspector.
• Holds or ability to obtain IL PE within a year.

• BS in Civil Engineering.
• Experience with construction administration (pay estimates, RFI’s, change orders).

The position involves a mix of on-site and office work. Employees typically spend at least two days a week in the office. The role comes with a company car for daily use. The position supports multiple projects, including IDOT and tollway projects across the Greater Chicagoland area, with many IDOT projects located in Will County and the west side of Chicago.

This is a Permanent position based out of Downers Grove, IL.

The pay range for this position is $ - $ per year.
