Qualifications

Certification as required by the State of Illinois or School Service Personnel Certificate (Type 73) with School Psychology.

Salary is based on Step and Lane using the  Salary Schedule.  for the DGEEA Contract , Salary Schedule located on page 64.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Provide services to students in relation to the curriculum while considering cognitive and social development:
    • Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations that include but are not limited to the assessment of intellectual, developmental, academic, social/emotional and behavioral status.
    • Utilize formal as well as informal data collection techniques.
    • Interpret and utilize assessment data for the purpose of writing psychological reports and developing written intervention plans.
    • Provide direct services such as individual or group counseling sessions.
    • Provide crisis intervention.
    • Provide social skills training and behavior management.
    • Conduct functional analyses to help understand underlying reasons for behavior and develop behavioral plans.
    • Identify potential learning difficulties.
    • Assess environmental factors that may influence learning.
    • Participate on school teams to assist in problem solving and program planning.
  • Provide services to parents of District 58:
    • Assist parents in locating educational and mental health resources.
    • Consult with parents regarding psycho‑educational, social or behavioral information.
    • Assist parents in developing home interventions.
    • Offer information workshops on a variety of topics.
  • Provide services to teachers in District 58:
    • Provide consultation in planning and implementing appropriate classroom management strategies and other learning and behavioral interventions.
    • Assist in adapting/modifying the curriculum to meet the varying rates, patterns and needs of all students.
    • Collaborate on effective interventions to meet the needs of diverse learners.
    • Provide professional development sessions on specific topics of interest.
    • Facilitate positive communication among all partners in the program planning process.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of academic programs and behavioral management systems.
    • Supervise psychology interns or school psychology practicum students.
