Onsite Flexibility: Primarily onsite; requires travel 1 week per month

Job Summary

Join a long-standing infrastructure engineering firm as a Staff Project Controls Specialist
, where you ll play a pivotal role in project delivery by ensuring scheduling, cost control, and resource tracking across major initiatives. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong grasp of project controls systems and a proactive mindset in managing performance data, forecasts, and planning logistics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead project controls processes to support budget and schedule compliance.
  • Configure and maintain project setup in Enterprise Planning & Controls software.
  • Analyze performance data and run schedule/cost reports.
  • Create and manage Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
  • Develop and maintain effective scheduling, cost reports, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, and construction logistics and planning.
  • Serve as the point of contact for technical questions within the project team.
  • Approve purchase orders and subcontracts with proper coding.
  • Track and document cost changes, forecasts, and contingency adjustments.
  • Interface with accounting to validate cost reports and support audits.
  • Review contract change orders (upstream and downstream).
  • Prepare and present detailed cash flow reports and progress curves.
  • Create and analyze schedules, including logic ties and resource loading.
  • Support and participate in Interactive Project Planning Meetings (IPPM).
  • Perform project forensics and what-if scenario analyses.
  • Maintain earned value management (EVM) systems.
  • Conduct quality checks, inspections, and field audits.
  • Assist with material takeoffs and schedule progress validations.
  • Comply with all company policies and safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field — OR — applicable direct experience in lieu of degree
  • 3+ years of direct experience in project controls
  • OSHA 10-hour safety certification (or ability to obtain)
Nice-to-Have
  • Prior experience in infrastructure or construction engineering environments
  • Project forensic analysis participation
  • Contract review and audit preparation
Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Oracle Primavera P6 (preferred)
  • Earned Value Management (EVM) systems (preferred)
  • Enterprise Planning & Controls software (EPC) (preferred)
  • Cost and resource forecasting
  • Schedule logic and critical path analysis
