Kelly® Engineering is seeking a Quality Inspector for a contract‑to‑hire position with a large manufacturer of motion control products, located in Downers Grove, IL

Pay $35.00 per hour
Shift options:
- 1st shift: 6‑2:30
- 2nd shift: 2‑10:30
- 3rd shift: 10‑6:30
This client is a high‑volume manufacturer of motion control products, transmission & braking systems, custom assemblies, and components. Their aerospace division machines bearings, gearboxes, and couplings. Due to growth, they’re searching for Receiving Inspectors on all three shifts.
As an inspector, you’ll inspect a wide variety of purchased components, from simple to very complex, including machined parts manufactured to very close tolerances. The role includes inspection of raw materials, verifying material meets industry specifications for chemical analysis, material properties, etc.
Responsibilities- Ensure strict adherence to and implementation of Company Safety and Work rules.
- Perform inspection operations in at least three of the following areas:
- Final Inspection
- Heat Treat Inspection
- Plating Inspection
- Receiving QC Inspection
- Pre/Post OSP Inspection
- Responsible for creation of nonconformance documentation (NCRs) when discrepancies are detected at any inspection stage; remove the discrepant material from the production areas.
- Work from engineering drawings, inspection plans, internal instructions and customer documents including specifications, purchase orders and order codes.
- Set up and use precision measuring equipment and gauges.
- Perform inspection on components and finished assemblies, and document results.
- Ensure product quality for acceptance.
- Prepare and maintain required department and certification packages, paperwork, records.
- Work with manufacturing to understand and resolve quality discrepancies.
- Review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) from suppliers for approval.
- Work with suppliers on certification issues.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Due to ITAR requirements, the applicant must be a U.S. person with U.S. permanent residence and be able to provide documentation that supports this effort.
- Inspect for product quality for purchased and manufactured components to very close tolerances.
- Exercise judgment to set up specified precision measuring instruments, inspect for various dimensions and surface quality.
- Approve or reject items within the limitations of recognized methods and procedures.
- Proficient with calipers, micrometers, gauges, blueprint reading and interpretation of GD&T symbols.
- Concentrated mental and visual attention required to inspect intricate component parts visually and dimensionally; coordination of a high degree of manual dexterity with close visual attention for sustained periods.
- Experience in Microsoft Navision is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail.
