Sports Instructor

Sports Instructor will provide leadership to different age groups all while promoting a high-energy, fun and positive environment for program participants. You will be responsible for the planning of sports programs and supervision of different age groups in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA.

Pay: $16.60-$18.00 per hour with opportunities to grow within the organization.

• Plan and implement sports/specialty programs in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA; coordinate activities that are culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate.
• Teach the fundamentals of sports/specialty program area by understanding program participants’ age/skill level.
• Supervise a group of youth and/or adults to ensure their health and safety, and to provide a positive experience for each participant.
• Communicate with and maintain a positive relationship with parents/guardians.
• Provide day‑to‑day guidance to staff and volunteers.
• Maintain and promote a fair, consistent discipline code to all players.
• Ensure all equipment and gear is accounted for and maintained; notify supervisor of equipment issues.
• Assist with the development of special events and activities.

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must have prior sports/specialty experience (e.g., playing, coaching).
• Comfortable working with multiple age groups.

• Report any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor.
• Follow all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children.
• Report any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor.
• Complete all child abuse prevention training as required.
