Substance Use Prevention Program Specialist

Position OverviewUnder general supervision, organizes, implements, and delivers evidence-based curriculum and services on substance use prevention to K-12 students in school-based settings; engages with community partners in implementing comprehensive prevention strategies; and assists in ensuring that substance use prevention programs deliverables are met.

Education:
A bachelor’s degree in public health, counseling, social work, sociology, behavioral sciences, or other fields closely related to the job requirements of this classification from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Experience:
Two years of experience in providing substance use prevention services to students and families and collaborating with partners on community outreach, including one year of experience working with K-12 students.
Additional Requirements:
California Certified Prevention Specialist (CCPS) certification is preferred. A valid California driver’s license and availability of private transportation or ability to provide transportation between job sites is required. Positions may require work outside regular hours for community outreach and youth engagement activities as needed by the job. Hybrid remote schedules may be available.
Candidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of a performance exam, technical project, and structured interview.
