- Documentation and Record‑Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all pickups and deliveries, including date, time, location, and recipient signatures, and report any issues or delays to dispatch immediately.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections to ensure the delivery vehicle (which may be company‑provided or personal) is clean, well‑maintained, and fueled for safe operation.
- Customer Service and Professionalism: Interact with patients, families, and healthcare staff in a courteous and professional manner while maintaining patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.

- Core Competencies: Punctuality, reliability, strong time management, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills are essential for success.
- Background Checks: Background checks and a medical exam (in accordance with DOT or other regulations) are standard parts of the hiring process.
- Certifications: While not always required to start, obtaining certifications related to medical handling protocols, biohazard safety (OSHA), and HIPAA compliance can improve employability and career prospects.
Home Health Couriers spend most of their workday on the road, traveling between various locations. They work independently but stay connected with dispatchers and the rest of the care team.
