Mid-September 2026 About Us The Saint Patrick Centre is the worlds only permanent exhibition dedicated to Irelands patron saint. We are a vibrant hub for tourism, education, and cultural heritage. About the Role We are seeking a dynamic Education Officer to inspire the next generation of visitors through creative learning programmes. You will develop, deliver, and expand innovative learning programmes which are directly linked to relevant aspects of the NI Curriculum.
Your work will engage schools and community groups, bringing history and heritage to life. The successful applicant will work as part of a small team and be based at the Saint Patrick Centre.
Key Responsibilities Developing, delivering, marketing, and implementing an engaging high-quality Education Programme exploring the history of Saint Patrick and his connections locally, nationally, and internationally for schools, community groups, and tourists. Developing, managing, marketing, and delivering an annual programme of events for all visitors. Develop digital and physical learning materials, worksheets, and exhibition guides to support learning. Engage with local and wider educational communities to further the work of the Centre.
Ensure all educational content aligns with the current school curriculum. Plan and execute seasonal educational events, lectures, and heritage projects. Build strong partnerships with local schools, teachers, historical societies and relevant stakeholders.
Essential Criteria Proven teaching experience in formal or informal settings. Evidence of positive engagement with local and/or wider communities. Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the NI Curriculum. Proven ability to work effectively as an individual and as part of a team. The ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders Leadership skills. Exceptional communication, public speaking, and presentation skills.
A degree in History, Education, Museum Studies, or a related discipline. Minimum of 2 years working in an educational or heritage delivery role. Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills tailored for diverse age groups. Proven ability to manage multiple group bookings and schedules simultaneously. Desirable Criteria Valid teaching certificate or PGCE. Deep understanding of the history of Saint Patrick and Christian heritage in Ireland.
