Position Description

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Dracut, MA.

Pay & Benefits
  • Hourly Pay: $41.75 per hour
  • Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)

    Tuesday–Saturday (Second Shift Tuesday—Friday 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm; Saturday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm)

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Vocational or Technical Certification or Post‑Secondary degree (preferred)
  • Basic tools required
  • Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work), diagnostics and repairs (AC, electrical systems), and advanced skilled repairs such as major engine, diesel after‑treatment or automotive fuel injection (required)
  • Four (4) years or more relevant work experience (preferred)
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
  • All other certifications required by location (required)
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to perform all T3 tasks
  • Advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Availability for shift work, weekends, and on‑call duty as required
  • Prefer ASE Certification in PM, Brakes, A/C, Electrical, Electronics or ASE Master Mechanic
  • Proficiency operating shop computers and diagnostic equipment
  • Minimum tool requirement
  • Road test vehicles as necessary
  • Ability to coach/mentor others
  • Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder Road Test
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor Vehicle Check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Responsibilities
  • SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
    220)
  • Complete all OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days
  • Complete instructor‑led OEM courses as required
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties: standard and preventive maintenance, complex repairs with minimal support
  • Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computers/software when applicable
  • Perform remote triage with RCRC and customers to determine best solution for roadside breakdowns
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
  • Instruct and advise other technicians on maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics
  • Coach/mentor other level technicians
  • Advise shop management and other technicians on shop repairs
  • Use key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation
  • Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Other support duties as required, including but not limited to Service Island support
