Heavy Civil / Highway Sr. Superintendent
Location:
Draper, Utah. Full‑time role. The Sr. Superintendent is responsible for the day‑to‑day field leadership of heavy civil/highway construction operations, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget compliance.
- Ensure field activities meet safety standards, project specifications, stay on budget and schedule, maintain high‑quality workmanship, and are efficiently coordinated across crews and subcontractors.
- Understand, enforce, and execute all Safety Policies, create Job Hazard Analyses, conduct safety inspections, and ensure documentation.
- Comply with Dust Control, SWPPP, and environmental regulations; schedule inspections, quality testing, and compliance steps.
- Schedule and order materials, equipment, inspections and workforce; ensure project progresses according to schedule, specifications and production goals.
- Directly supervise field crews (dirt, pipe, structures) to ensure quality workmanship; conduct regular site walks to track progress and identify field needs.
- Confer with subcontractors, crew leads and project personnel; interpret specifications and plans to prevent construction delays; coordinate multiple phases of construction efficiently; communicate project status to the project management team.
- Manage forepersons and craft personnel assigned to the project; train employees, plan and direct work, address concerns and resolve problems; ensure compliance with company policies and laws.
- Minimum 5 years of earthwork and roadway superintendent or foreperson experience leading heavy equipment crews (grader, track hoe, loader, backhoe, dirt/pipe crews).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in all phases of roadway construction, including dirt excavation, grading, underground utilities, and blueprint/specification reading.
- Must pass a driver’s license and criminal background check.
- Skill matrix: strong understanding of heavy civil construction methods; ability to lead crews in a fast‑paced field environment; strong communication and conflict resolution skills; ability to manage multiple field operations simultaneously; strong scheduling and documentation capabilities; ability to travel occasionally to project sites.
- Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (preferred).
