Senior AWS Network Engineer – San Jose, CA (Remote options available)

The Platform Infrastructure and Database Engineering Team manages all of BILL’s infrastructure and databases. As a Senior AWS Network Engineer, you will design, optimize, and maintain our AWS network infrastructure. Your focus will be on performance, scalability, and security while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver robust cloud network solutions.

• Architect, configure, and manage all AWS networking components including VPCs, subnets, routing tables, VPNs, Direct Connect, and Transit Gateways.
• Implement network infrastructure as code using Terraform, ensuring reproducibility and version control.
• Develop monitoring and alerting strategies with Data Dog, Cloud Watch, and other proprietary tools to maintain high availability and performance.
• Design and enforce network security controls (firewalls, IDS/IPS, encryption, access control) across on‑prem and cloud environments.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineers, Developers, and Architects to integrate networking best practices into product roadmaps.

• Minimum 5 years of network engineering experience, with significant AWS or comparable cloud infrastructure work.
• Proficiency in Terraform or equivalent IaC tools for automating network configuration.
• In‑depth knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, and other networking protocols.
• Strong understanding of network security fundamentals and industry best practices.
• Experience with Cloud Watch, VPC Flow Logs, and network monitoring/performance tools.
• AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect – Associate or Advanced Networking – Specialty preferred.
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

San Jose pay range: $130,400 – $156,500 USD
