Technical Support Engineer - GIS

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior GIS Technical Solutions Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and delivery of advanced GIS-based solutions for our clients. In this senior role, you will serve as a technical expert and trusted advisor—translating complex business and data requirements into scalable, high-performance GIS applications. You will collaborate cross‑functionally with product, engineering, and customer success teams to architect and optimize Numetric’s geospatial data workflows and platform integrations.

• Lead the design, integration, and optimization of GIS data systems, including Vehicle Crash Records, Linear Referencing Systems (LRS), Traffic Segments, Intersections, and MIRE datasets.
• Architect automated data pipelines and synchronization processes using APIs, SQL, and ETL frameworks; ensure data integrity and performance across systems.
• Configure and customize Numetric applications for enterprise clients—building complex datasets, defining transformation logic, and managing data models within the Numetric platform.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and technical escalation point for internal teams, guiding solution design and implementation best practices.
• Lead technical troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and resolution of advanced data or application issues in partnership with engineering teams.
• Mentor and support junior engineers and analysts, promoting technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, data dictionaries, and internal knowledge base content.
• Stay current with emerging GIS technologies, cloud‑based geospatial solutions, and industry standards to continuously enhance our platform capabilities.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geography, Geospatial Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in GIS solution design, development, and implementation.
• Advanced proficiency with GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS, or equivalent) and spatial data concepts.
• Strong command of spatial data formats and databases (e.g., shape files, GeoJSON, KML, PostGIS).
• Proven experience with data automation, APIs, and SQL‑based integrations.
• Demonstrated success managing multiple technical projects and working directly with clients or stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non‑technical audiences.

• Experience leading GIS solution implementations in enterprise or SaaS environments.
• Hands‑on experience with web mapping and visualization tools (e.g., Leaflet, Mapbox, ArcGIS Online).
• Deep understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and geocoding workflows.
• Familiarity with cloud‑based geospatial environments (AWS, Azure, or Esri Enterprise).
• Experience integrating GIS data with BI or analytics tools.
