Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Position:
Staff Diver (Temporary)
Reports To: Dive Program Manager
Position Summary:The Staff Diver will be primarily responsible for supporting daily dive operations at the LLPA. The Staff Diver will fill in for all positions of the dive team during daily operations, help with the care and maintenance of dive equipment, and ensure the dive locker rooms are properly maintained.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Responsible for all cleaning and maintenance of dive-related equipment, supplies, support spaces
- Support all dive operations
- Proactively review records and inspect dive-related equipment function to identify issues
- Maintain all necessary training and certifications for job function.
- Maintain all necessary records related to dive operations, equipment, and training
- Responsible for supporting institutional and best practice standards
- One (1) year of work experience in Aquarium, Scientific, or Commercial Diving preferred
- Experience in technical diving methods as applied to aquarium diving, including emergency response, Tethered Diving, Full Face Mask Diving, Surface Supplied Air Diving, and Underwater Communications Systems preferred
- Be proficient in the proper use of equipment, hand tools, and shop equipment
Competencies:
- Demonstrated knowledge of methods, procedures, hazards, and safety precautions associated with aquarium diving
- Experience diving with and working around living aquatic animals.
- Maintaining a consistent professional attitude, high motivation, and ability to accept feedback.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office software packages
- Preferred experience in underwater maintenance and repair
- Open water dive certification (PADI or NAUI) or better.
- Certified in First Aid, CPR, AED and Oxygen Administration
- Preferred Rescue Diver or higher certification by a nationally recognized agency
- Sitting, standing, climbing, swimming, and carrying intermittent weights of up to 50 lbs.
- Hot, cold, humid, and wet environments
- Driving Aquarium vehicles, operating heavy machinery, using power tools, and working around chemicals.
- Ladders, elevated platforms, enclosed spaces and uneven surfaces.
- Hours and availability:
This is an hourly position calculated at 40 hours per week.
Working Conditions:
- Medical clearance required prior to accepting the position
- This job requires working underwater
