Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine

The hospital in Drogheda is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Geriatric Consultant to join their team. The successful candidate will work as part of a dynamic and collaborative team in the delivery of high-quality patient care. The Geriatric Consultant will be responsible for assessing and managing patients with complex geriatric problems, and will provide leadership in the development and implementation of patient care protocols.
Key responsibilities:
Providing medical care to geriatric patients in outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, and emergency departments.
Assessing and managing patients with complex geriatric problems, including cognitive impairment, functional decline, frailty, falls, and multiple co-morbidities.
Working with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care protocols and pathways.
Providing education and training to junior medical staff and allied health professionals.
Participating in clinical audit and research activities.
Requirements:
Registered with the Irish Medical Council Specialist Division in Geriatric Medicine or be eligible for registration in this division.
Experience in Geriatric Medicine at Consultant level.
Transport is essential for this role as it is split between two locations.
