Are you a caring and resilient Teaching Assistant with a strong passion for pastoral support?
A welcoming and supportive middle school in Droitwich is seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant to work across Year 5 to Year 7, starting as soon as possible until July. This is a long-term opportunity within a school that places a strong emphasis on student wellbeing, inclusion, and emotional development.
This role has a heavy pastoral focus, supporting pupils who may struggle with social, emotional, and mental health needs. You will play a key role in helping children to regulate their emotions, feel settled within the school environment, and be calmly guided back into class ready to learn.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and senior leaders to ensure pupils feel safe, supported, and ready to engage with learning. The school is known for its strong behaviour framework, nurturing ethos, and collaborative staff culture.
Responsibilities- Providing pastoral support to pupils across Years 5–7.
- Supporting children with social and emotional health needs.
- Using calming and de‑escalation strategies to help pupils regulate emotions.
- Ensuring pupils are settled and supported back into class when required.
- Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support behaviour and wellbeing.
- Supporting learning in class where appropriate.
- Previous experience working with children, ideally within a school setting.
- Experience or knowledge of supporting Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach.
- Confidence using emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A proactive and adaptable attitude.
- Competitive daily rate, from £88.92 to £100 per day.
- Holiday Pay – PAYE candidates accrue 12.07% of their day rate.
