In this role, you will a key member of the team to allow for growth of the Systems business through Droitwich and supporting the creation, revision and update of key procedures to allow for the projected growth of the business.

Role Purpose

The Process Improvement Engineer is responsible for driving continuous improvement across the engineering, project management, and project delivery functions of a business delivering offsite‑manufactured HVAC and M&E solutions.

The role focuses on improving the efficiency, quality, predictability, and scalability of project execution from initial concept and design through procurement, manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning. The successful candidate will identify and implement improvements to project delivery processes, engineering workflows, governance, resource planning, and cross‑functional collaboration to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This role acts as a bridge between Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing, Commercial, Procurement, and Commissioning teams, ensuring lessons learned are captured and embedded into process.

Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery Process Improvement
  • Analyse and improve end-to-end project delivery processes.
  • Develop the existing standardised project execution methodologies across all projects.
  • Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and risks within project delivery workflows.
  • Drive improvements in programme predictability, schedule adherence, and resource utilisation.
  • Establish best‑practice project management standards and governance frameworks.
  • Support the development of project delivery playbooks and stage‑gate processes.
Engineering Process Improvement
  • Review and optimise engineering workflows covering:
    • Concept design
    • Detailed design
    • Design approvals
    • Technical submittals
    • Design change management
    • Drawing production
    • Design release to manufacturing
  • Improve engineering productivity through standardisation and automation.
  • Develop and maintain engineering design standards and templates.
  • Support implementation of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) principles.
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering quality and reduction of design‑related defects.
Project Controls & Performance
  • Develop and implement project performance metrics and dashboards.
  • Monitor and improve:
    • Engineering lead times
    • Design release performance
    • Schedule adherence
    • Cost performance
    • Change management effectiveness
    • Risk management maturity
  • Establish reporting systems that provide visibility of project health and resource requirements.
  • Support project forecasting and capacity planning activities.
Change Management & Governance
  • Lead initiatives to improve project governance and control processes.
  • Standardise project documentation, reporting, and approval procedures.
  • Improve management of:
    • Variations
    • Technical queries
    • Design changes
    • Client approvals
    • Lessons learned
  • Ensure effective change control processes are embedded throughout the project lifecycle.
Digitalisation & Systems Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve project delivery through digital tools and automation.
  • Support implementation and optimisation of:
    • ERP systems
    • Project management platforms
    • Document management systems
    • Resource planning tools
  • Improve data quality and reporting capability across project functions.
Continuous Improvement
  • Facilitate Lean and Continuous Improvement workshops.
