Job Title
Teacher – Primary
Reports ToPrincipal
Professional Duties- Plan and prepare courses and lessons.
- Teach pupils according to their educational needs, including setting and marking work.
- Assess, record and report on pupils’ development, progress and attainment.
- Promote general progress and well‑being of pupils and communities.
- Provide advice and guidance to pupils on educational, social matters and career choices.
- Record and report on personal and social needs of pupils.
- Communicate and consult with parents.
- Communicate and cooperate with external persons or bodies approved by the authority.
- Participate in meetings relating to curriculum, administration, or wellbeing.
- Provide oral and written assessments, reports and references for pupils and groups.
- Participate in staff development schemes and performance reviews.
- Review teaching methods and programmes of work.
- Participate in arrangements for professional development.
- Advise and cooperate with the Principal and other teachers on courses, materials, programmes and pastoral arrangements.
- Maintain good order and discipline among pupils and safeguard health and safety.
- Participate in school curriculum or administration meetings.
- Participate in arrangements for preparing pupils for public examinations and assess pupils for examinations.
- Contribute to selection and professional development of other teachers, including induction and assessment of probationary teachers.
- Co‑ordinate or manage work of other teachers and assist in review, development and management of curriculum and pastoral activities.
- Participate in administrative and organisational tasks related to curriculum and pastoral functions.
- Attend assemblies and register attendance of pupils.
- Supervise pupils as needed.
- Be available for 195 days a year, not more than 190 teaching days, and total 1,265 hours, with breaks per schedule.
- Supervise and teach pupils in absence of another teacher, subject to school enrolment guidelines.
- Qualifications – Hold a teaching qualification recognized for grant‑aided schools in Northern Ireland.
- Experience – Demonstrable experience teaching Foundation Stage, using effective classroom strategies, supporting children of all abilities including those with SEN, and using digital media/technology to enhance learning.
- Other – Registered with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland before commencement.
- Knowledge – Knowledge of the Northern Ireland Curriculum, safeguarding and child protection policy, SEND Code of Practice, teaching strategies, IT systems (digital classroom tools, tablets, mobile technologies), and assessment methods.
- Skills / Abilities – Effective teaching and classroom management, inclusive learning environment, initiative, problem solving, flexibility, collaboration, team working, motivation.
- Values / Ethos – Evidence of experience and approach reflecting the school’s values; see school website for details.
- Minimum of 2 years’ demonstrable experience teaching Foundation Stage.
- Experience monitoring pupil progress, performance, target setting and intervention.
- Willingness to coordinate a subject area.
