Research Associate II – Immuno-oncology and Spatial Biology

Join the forefront of groundbreaking research at City of Hope where our mission is to transform the future of cancer care through precision medicine and innovative immuno‑oncology. We are seeking a highly motivated and hands‑on Research Associate II to support laboratory‑based research on colorectal cancer immunotherapy and tumor microenvironment biology.

This position is ideal for a candidate eager to gain advanced experience in spatial and single‑cell technologies, clinical translational research, and biomarker discovery. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Marwan Fakih and Dr. Jian Ye, contributing directly to ongoing clinical‑correlative studies and mechanistic projects using cutting‑edge techniques.

You will be part of a translational research team tackling immunotherapy resistance in colorectal cancer, using state‑of‑the‑art spatial and molecular platforms. This position provides an exceptional opportunity to develop hands‑on skills in both clinical sample handling and cutting‑edge research technologies, with publication opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Perform wet‑lab and technical experimental work related to translational immuno‑oncology studies in colorectal cancer.
  • Process and manage clinical biospecimens (tumor tissues, blood, and FFPE samples) for downstream molecular and spatial analyses.
  • Conduct advanced spatial biology and immunology assays.
  • Maintain organized sample inventory, records, and reagent tracking.
  • Assist with basic data analysis, figure preparation, and presentation of results.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and scientists to integrate molecular and imaging data for mechanistic and biomarker discovery studies.
  • Contribute to the preparation of research reports, manuscripts, and grant applications.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Two years related research/laboratory experience with a Bachelor’s degree or one year related research/laboratory experience with a Master’s degree.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, or molecular biology techniques is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with spatial transcriptomics, multiplex imaging, or single‑cell technologies is a plus but not required.
  • Strong motivation to learn and contribute to both clinical and basic cancer research.
  • Ideal for candidates interested in pursuing future graduate, medical, or academic research careers.
Base Pay Range

$33.00/hr – $51.00/hr
