Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator, or designee, the Research Associate I performs a variety of routine and increasingly complex research experiments.
As a successful candidate, you will:- Support microbiome research efforts by performing nucleic acid extractions and preparing sequencing libraries from a variety of specimen types.
- Perform extraction of high‑quality DNA and RNA from microbiome samples, and preparation of libraries for 16S rRNA gene sequencing, shotgun metagenomics, and metatranscriptomics.
- Assist with receiving, aliquoting, cataloging, and storing biospecimens in accordance with established protocols.
- Have great attention to detail, good laboratory practices, and the ability to follow standard operating procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences.
- 0‑2 years of research/laboratory experience.
