Position: Irrigation Foreman Full Time

Job Description

The Irrigation Foreman is responsible for the install and maintenance projects. The foreman is responsible for completing these projects with great precision and business-minded efficiency, overseeing crews ranging in size from one to ten depending on the job type and size.

Primary Functions
  • Direct activities on the job site, including but not limited to: coordinating workflow, hands-on work, and operating machinery.
  • Manage personnel effectively and efficiently.
  • Communicate production goals and other items with crew members, lead gardeners, and customers.
  • Train and promote the development of crew members in the best practices of installation and company standards.
  • Monitor all tools, equipment, and machinery for the needed maintenance and installation.
  • Track and record all job expenses, including but not exclusively hours and materials used.
  • Maintain a clean and safe job site at all times; trucks are kept clean and equipped with the correct and working tools.
  • Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage irrigation crews.
  • Ensure that each crew member is trained appropriately for each designated job assignment.
  • Participate in and conduct all job site safety meetings with the crew.
  • Drive a pickup truck and tow a single or double axle trailer.
  • Ensure that all crew members utilize the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Instruct crew members on proper job site security procedures.
  • Ensure that all installation and maintenance work is performed in accordance with company standards.
  • Ensure that all equipment and safety procedures are followed.
  • Perform administrative functions pertaining to crew members.
  • Interact with customers to ensure job satisfaction.
  • Supervise all crew members during the performance of all assigned work and work with crew members on site to ensure a good healthy working environment.
  • Lead by example.
  • Report for work at the assigned location and time each day.
  • Ensure that all safety rules and company safety policies are followed.
  • Participate in safety training sessions and strive to improve safety on the job site.
  • Communicate clearly with the customer in Spanish or English as needed to complete the communication chain.
  • Strive to improve job skills for potential upward mobility.
  • Track and record all job expenses and hours accurately, ensuring the office personnel have the correct paperwork for each job.
  • Train crew members in the best practices of installation and maintenance according to company standards.
  • Know and be competent in the completion of all the tasks and responsibilities of the gardener and the lead gardener.
  • Read and understand architectural drawings and implement these drawings on a job site.
  • Understand and install low voltage lighting and irrigation materials, ensuring their proper function and repair any issues.
  • Be trained in basic first aid requirements and know how to identify hazardous situations and eliminate them on a job site.
  • Apply pesticides and herbicides to the landscape area.
  • Working Environment

    The usual and customary methods of performing the job functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. Generally, the job requires 5% sitting, 45% standing, and 50% walking. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

    Requirements
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • California Driver’s License and the ability to tow a single or double axle trailer.
  • Knowledge of perennials, shrubs, evergreens, and trees, including identification and cultural requirements.
  • Highly motivated, self-driven individual who is detail-oriented.
  • Verbal and written skills, basic computer skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize on the job site.
  • Punctual and dependable.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends if needed.
  • Experience

    Minimum 3 years of irrigation experience, with increasing levels of responsibility desired in the landscape industry.

    Required Testing
  • Pre-employment medical examination.
  • Pre-employment physical capabilities test.
  • Certificates & Licenses
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Meet I-9 requirements.
