Job Summary
The Quantity Surveyor supports the tendering and estimation process by carrying out accurate quantity take-offs, BOQ analysis, and commercial coordination. The role ensures quantities are correctly derived from drawings and specifications, discrepancies identified and clarified, and tender documentation prepared accurately and ready for pricing and submission.
Key Responsibilities- Study tender documents, Bills of Quantities, BOQs, specifications and drawings in detail.
- Identify discrepancies, ambiguities, omissions or unclear information and advise the Inquiry Engineer accordingly.
- Prepare accurate quantity take‑offs in line with tender drawings and specifications.
- Compare calculated quantities with those provided in the Consultant’s BOQ and highlight major variances.
- Quantify BOQ items listed without clear quantities, including lump sum or item‑rate entries.
- Incorporate detailed quantities into the BOQ for Estimator review and pricing.
- Coordinate with the Inquiry Engineer and Estimator to raise tender queries, clarifications and discrepancies with the Consultant.
- Revise and update quantities based on tender revisions, addendums and issued clarifications.
- Assist the Estimator in preparing, formatting and verifying the Bill of Quantities for submission.
- Populate BOQs with selling unit rates and total amounts under the direction of the Inquiry Engineer.
- Ensure all tender‑related documents, drawings and BOQs are returned to the Document Controller for proper archiving upon completion of the tender study.
- Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Quantity Surveying.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience with building contracting companies (GCC experience preferred).
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Sound knowledge of construction methods and practices.
- Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, planning, and strategic abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
