The Institutional Content Specialist is responsible for producing high‑quality, brand‑aligned content that supports UOWD’s academic reputation, executive communications, and institutional storytelling.
The role translates complex academic and organisational inputs into clear, compelling narratives across digital and editorial platforms, working closely with senior academics, executives, and marketing stakeholders. Operating within defined brand and communication frameworks, the role applies sound editorial judgment to ensure consistency, clarity, and audience relevance.
This position suits an experienced content professional with strong writing discipline, stakeholder confidence, and the ability to deliver accurate, impactful content in a fast‑paced, governance‑conscious environment. The role has a direct influence on UOWD’s external perception through the quality and coherence of its institutional voice.
Key AccountabilitiesInstitutional Storytelling & Content Delivery
Develop and deliver high‑quality institutional content including feature articles, web copy, executive speeches, video scripts, and social media content, aligned with UOWD’s communication priorities.
Ensure all content reflects UOWD’s brand voice, academic credibility, and reputational positioning.
Brand Voice & Editorial Stewardship
Act as a custodian of UOWD’s brand voice, enforcing tone, style, and editorial standards across all written content.
Contribute to the refinement and evolution of institutional style guides to support consistency in an increasingly multi‑platform and AI‑enabled environment.
Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory Input
Build effective working relationships with academic leaders, executive stakeholders, and functional teams to source stories, clarify messaging needs, and manage approvals.
Provide professional editorial guidance to stakeholders, balancing institutional requirements with audience impact.
Content Performance & Optimisation
Monitor content performance using metrics such as engagement rates, dwell time, click‑through rates, and conversions.
Design and execute A/B testing initiatives and translate insights into actionable improvements in content strategy and execution.
Frameworks & Communication Planning
Contribute to the development of structured communication frameworks, including guidance on channels, cadence, and platform suitability.
Support integrated campaigns by ensuring message clarity, relevance, and coherence across channels.
Quality Assurance & Business Continuity
Review and edit content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with UOWD standards.
Provide continuity support for external‑facing content activities during team absences to ensure uninterrupted delivery.
Role Capability RequirementsQualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3 years’ professional experience in content creation, journalism, or brand communications, ideally within a corporate, institutional, or higher education environment.
Advanced writing, editing, and storytelling capability across academic, executive, and external‑facing content.
Working knowledge of content management systems, digital publishing requirements, and performance analytics.
Confident and responsible use of generative AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT) to support ideation and drafting, while maintaining editorial integrity.
Exceptional attention to detail and editorial discipline.
Strong stakeholder relationship management and influencing skills.
Ability to operate calmly under tight deadlines and competing demands.
Strategic thinking with the ability to connect content to broader institutional objectives.
Collaborative mindset and willingness to support team continuity.
Adaptability in a fast‑evolving, multi‑platform communication environment.
