Senior Facade Designer

Overview

The Senior Facade Designer plays a critical role in the design and technical development of high performance facade systems including GFRC, UHPC, and hybrid technologies. Reporting to the Senior Facade Design Manager within the Design & Engineering Department, this role supports project execution across three primary phases: conceptual design, system-level design, and shop drawing development.

The Senior Facade Designer is expected to interpret architectural intent, transform it into coordinated technical solutions, and deliver precise documentation that meets internal and external quality standards.

The position requires strong collaboration with engineering, field operations, and manufacturing teams to ensure system performance, constructability, and lifecycle durability. Through rigorous documentation, technical expertise, and an unwavering focus on quality, this role drives innovative design solutions that support both customer needs and internal excellence standards.

• Conduct thorough reviews of project documents, including diagrams, sketches, drawings, specifications, wind studies, and applicable building codes, to extract design insights and identify new opportunities through different stages of the design as conceptual, system and shop drawings phases.
• Develop sketches and AutoCAD drawings of conceptual, system and shop drawings designs of high performance facade systems including GFRC, UHPC, and hybrid technologies and their supporting structures.
• Review the design development drawings with the Senior Facade Design Manager to refine and finalize them.

• Present conceptual designs during client meetings when required, clearly articulating design intent and alignment with project goals.
• Support the Design Assist process by participating in scheduled meetings and producing sketches and drawings in collaboration with the Senior Façade Design Manager.

• Prepare detailed design drawings in alignment with technical requirements, utilizing company standards, templates, and tools to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Organize and document all developed drawings systematically for each opportunity or project, maintaining a clear and accessible record of all produced documents.
• Coordinate with the Engineering team to review the drawings during the different phases for preliminary analysis and incorporate feedback.
• Engage with Technical, Production and Installation Operations teams, as needed, to assess constructability; document and integrate their input into updated designs.
• Support the Design & Engineering Department, Sales, Operations, and Quality Assurance teams in the development of shop drawings related to internal mock-ups and R&D initiatives.

• Provide design support to Sales, including generating preliminary take-offs to aid pricing efforts.
• Collaborate with the Sales team to ensure concept drawings align with overall strategy, budget considerations, and client expectations.

Bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering, combined with 8+ years of dedicated facade design experience, or an equivalent blend of education and proven industry experience.
