Assistant Librarian
About the RoleYou will be accountable for the reliable and efficient running of the college library, presenting books as well as encouraging the pleasure of reading. You will manage pupils and volunteers where appropriate. Your main responsibilities will include developing reading lists by age level in collaboration with division heads, assisting students in finding books, and maintaining accurate records of all library books and resources.
You will also be responsible for managing all borrowed books, following up with pupils, parents, and teachers when necessary.
You will participate in the selection and acquisition of new publications and renewals of periodicals subscriptions. Additionally, you will oversee the overall maintenance of the library, ensuring it remains organized, comfortable, and inviting for students of all ages.
Concerning You- Previous experience working in a library is advantageous.
- Extensive knowledge of the National Curriculum for England.
- Must stay updated with current trends in YA literature.
- High proficiency in computer applications including Windows, Word, Excel, and library management systems (Oliver is used at Jumeirah University).
- Proficient in internet use, including effective browsing and email communication.
- Ability to assist students and staff in using library resources effectively, including catalogs, book sources, and online resources.
- Highly organized and independent, capable of troubleshooting and improving library systems and services.
- Passion for reading fiction and ability to promote and recommend books and authors.
