Purpose

The Head of Sixth Form at Dubai British School Jumeirah Park will provide strategic leadership and accountability for the vision, quality, and outcomes of our competitive, thriving Sixth Form. As a core member of the Secondary Leadership Team, this role will lead a high-performing, student-centred provision across academic standards, pastoral care, enrichment, and progression, ensuring every student in Years 12 and 13 thrives and secures their best-fit destination beyond school to some of the world best universities and industry placements.

The Head of Sixth Form will shape and deliver a compelling post-16 vision aligned with DBSJP’s ethos of excellence, innovation, and wellbeing. This includes driving recruitment and retention of students, ensuring a balanced and challenging curriculum across A Level, vocational, and hybrid pathways, and positioning DBSJP as the leading choice for post-16 education in Dubai. The role encompasses oversight of teaching and learning in Phase 4, safeguarding, and the development of a rich super-curriculum and enrichment programme that prepares students for life beyond school.

In addition to leading Sixth Form strategy, the Head of Sixth Form will contribute to whole-school improvement priorities, succession planning, staff development, and community engagement, ensuring DBSJP continues to deliver outstanding outcomes and experiences for all learners.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership and Whole-School Contribution
  • Set and deliver a compelling Sixth Form vision aligned to DBSJP’s ethos and whole-school improvement priorities.
  • Lead Sixth Form strategy across curriculum, assessment, pedagogy, pastoral systems, enrichment, careers guidance, and destinations.
  • Drive recruitment, retention, and progression aligned to DBSJP’s post-16 pathways including A Level, vocational, and hybrid options with breadth across 30+ subjects.
  • Shape policy and practice at leadership level, contributing to school-wide initiatives, performance management, and strategic planning cycles.
  • Lead succession planning within Sixth Form and contribute to leadership development across Secondary.
  • Champion a culture of psychological safety, creativity, and professional autonomy that enables excellent staff performance and innovation.
Standards, Curriculum, and Pedagogy
  • Maintain secure outstanding academic outcomes in Sixth Form, with clear targets for attainment, progress, and value-added.
  • Lead curriculum design and pathways to ensure breadth, balance, and accessibility, including hybrid and vocational routes.
  • Ensure high-quality teaching and learning through robust QA cycles, instructional coaching, CPD plans, lesson study, and targeted intervention.
  • Oversee assessment models, exam readiness, and evidence-based practice that raises standards.
Pastoral, Safeguarding, and Inclusion
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive culture for all Sixth Form students, with effective systems for attendance, behaviour, wellbeing, and personal development.
  • Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead for Sixth Form, ensuring compliance with school policy, International/UAE/KHDA requirements, and best practice.
  • Lead the tutor system for Year 12 and 13, ensuring high-quality mentoring, PSHE and Super curriculum, and data-informed support.
  • Oversee SEND provision within Sixth Form, coordinating appropriate adjustments, examination access arrangements, and progress tracking.
