Overview

Nibras International School is looking for a qualified English Teacher to join the team in August 2026. Responsibilities
  • Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.
  • Establish a safe and stimulating environment for pupils, rooted in mutual respect.
  • Set goals that stretch and challenge pupils of all backgrounds, abilities and dispositions.
  • Demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviour expected of pupils.
  • Promote positive progress and outcomes for pupils through: accountability of attainment, awareness of capabilities and prior knowledge, and planning to build on these.
  • Guide pupils to reflect on their progress and emerging needs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of how pupils learn and how this impacts teaching.
  • Encourage pupils to take a responsible and conscientious attitude to their own work and study.
  • Demonstrate sound subject and curriculum knowledge, foster pupil interest, address misunderstandings, and promote high standards of literacy and Standard English.
  • If teaching early reading, understand systematic synthetic phonics; if teaching early mathematics, apply appropriate teaching strategies.
  • Plan and teach well-structured lessons, impart knowledge, promote love of learning and curiosity, and set appropriate homework and out-of-class activities.
  • Reflect on lesson effectiveness and contribute to an engaging curriculum within the subject area(s).
  • Differentiate teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils, including those with special educational needs, English as an additional language, disabilities, and high ability.
  • Make accurate and productive use of assessment: assess relevant areas, use formative and summative assessment, monitor progress with data, and provide regular feedback.
  • Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment, maintaining clear rules and routines in line with the school’s policy.
Key Accountabilities
  • Represent areas of knowledge, understanding and skills to students.
  • Lead by example in principles of truth, justice, equality of opportunity, human rights, benevolence and compassion.
  • Engage and motivate students to achieve beyond expectations and previous limits.
  • Use excellent subject knowledge, pedagogy and interpersonal skills to enthuse students and enable amazing learning.
  • Utilize ICT and new technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Plan lessons considering individual learning needs and styles.
  • Encourage all students to become effective, confident and independent lifelong learners.
  • Maintain professional relationships and contribute to school improvement.
  • Plan and deliver a program of learning opportunities and activities to enrich the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain fair disciplinary practices and protect students from abuse, including racist or sexist abuse and bullying.
  • Communicate openly with parents about attainment and progress; maintain confidentiality with external parties.
  • Model good academic practices and participate in departmental discussions and after-school activities as required.
  • Support school partnerships with the community and attend events as needed.
  • Other responsibilities as reasonably requested.
Teaching
  • Plan and prepare schemes of work and complete planning documentation.
  • Teach with consistent effectiveness, considering students’ individual educational needs.
  • Set and mark work in school, online, at home and elsewhere as appropriate.
  • Promote the intellectual, moral, spiritual, cultural, physical and personal development of students and provide guidance on educational and social matters.
