Teaching and Learning Coach
A member of the leadership team at GEMS Schools in the UAE, responsible for developing high quality teaching, learning and reading across the school. The role will support staff to deliver consistently strong classroom practice and improved student outcomes in line with GEMS Teaching and Learning policies.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Principal and Leadership Team in the leadership and management of the school and in directed aspects of school improvement.
- Maintain and continually improve on the provision of an outstanding educational experience within the school.
- Carry out teaching duties, as required, in accordance with the National Curriculum to drive teaching and learning throughout the school.
- Collaborate with school leadership to identify areas of strength and development in the school.
- Provide teachers with individualized and classroom‑centered training, exhibiting research‑based instructional strategies and methodologies, and follow up as needed.
- Provide professional development in the form of team teaching, lesson modelling and related professional development sessions.
- Provide feedback on key documents, including SEF, lesson plans, schemes of work and resourcing.
- Monitor classroom practice through learning walks, lesson observations, work scrutiny and coaching conversations in line with GEMS Teaching & Learning policy.
- Support teachers in planning high‑quality lessons with clear learning intentions, success criteria, differentiation, and effective assessment for learning.
- Coach and mentor teachers and middle leaders to improve instructional practice, classroom impact and student progress.
- Design and deliver targeted CPD aligned to school priorities, TLAG, RLAG and inspection frameworks (KHDA / MOE).
- Evaluate the effectiveness of teaching, learning and reading strategies using attainment, progress and engagement data.
- Support staff in using assessment data to inform planning, intervention and next steps for learning.
- Support curriculum development to ensure coherence, progression, challenge and alignment with National Curriculum expectations.
- Promote innovative and effective use of educational technology to enhance teaching, learning and reading outcomes.
- Contribute positively to school culture, teamwork and staff wellbeing.
- Support appraisal, performance management and professional growth conversations where required.
- Proven record of outstanding classroom practice and instructional leadership.
- Strong understanding of effective pedagogy, literacy development and assessment.
- Experience coaching teachers and leading professional learning.
- Ability to inspire, challenge and support staff to improve practice.
- Experience working within a GEMS school (preferred).
- Strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
