General Professional Responsibilities
  • Teach across age and ability ranges, including GCSE and A‑Level.
  • Plan, prepare courses and lessons, set and mark work, and assess, record and report on development, progress and attainment in line with school expectations and policy.
  • Use data to inform classroom teaching, monitor and track student progress, and implement timely interventions.
  • Prepare students for public examinations, assess, record and report assessments, and attend meetings related to public examinations.
  • Communicate and consult with parents, including writing reports.
  • Attend Parents’ Evenings and Open Evenings.
  • Maintain good order and discipline among students.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and Open Evenings.
  • Contribute to departmental policy and practice, curricular initiatives, programme development and teaching/assessment methods.
  • Engage in administrative and organisational tasks to ensure smooth department operation.
  • Keep up to date with curriculum innovation, undertake CPD and contribute to own professional development.
  • Collaborate with support teachers in the classroom.
  • Take responsibility for monitoring and supporting a beginning teacher when appropriate.
  • Set work for classes for known absences and for absent colleagues when required.
  • Oversee a designated area of the curriculum, administration or curriculum innovation or project.
  • Carry out other tasks reasonably directed by the Head of Department.
  • Familiarise with the DSIB inspection framework and expectations of outstanding teaching and learning in the UAE.
  • Support UAE initiatives and cultural expectations.
Candidate Profile
  • Hold relevant qualifications.
  • Have experience teaching in British curriculum schools, at IGCSE and A‑Level levels.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for drama and performing arts and convey it to students.
  • Understand assessment and examination requirements for KS3, KS4 and KS5.
  • Show outstanding teaching practice and progress of students.
  • Work effectively as part of a team.
  • Keep up to date with developments in the subject.
  • Be willing to develop professionally, seeking training within and outside the department.
