Job Description

Nibras International School is looking for a qualified Science Teacher to join the team in August 2026. Purpose
  • Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.
  • Establish a safe and stimulating environment for pupils, rooted in mutual respect.
  • Set goals that stretch and challenge pupils of all backgrounds, abilities and dispositions.
  • Demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviour which are expected of pupils.
  • Promote positive progress and outcomes with/for pupils through: accountability of pupils’ attainment, progress and outcomes, awareness of pupils’ capabilities and prior knowledge, planning teaching to build on these, guidance to reflect on progress, understanding how pupils learn and how this impacts on teaching, encouraging responsible and conscientious attitudes to work and study.
  • Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge through: sound knowledge of the relevant subject(s) and curriculum areas, fostering and maintaining pupils’ interest in the subject, addressing misunderstandings, critical understanding of developments in the subject and curriculum areas, promoting scholarship, promoting high standards of literacy, articulation and correct use of Standard English for all subjects, and, if teaching early reading, demonstrating a clear understanding of systematic synthetic phonics, and if teaching early mathematics, demonstrating a clear understanding of appropriate teaching strategies.
  • Plan and teach well‑structured lessons: impart knowledge, develop understanding, promote love of learning and intellectual curiosity, set homework when appropriate, plan out‑of‑class activities, reflect systematically on lesson effectiveness, contribute to engaging curriculum design, adapt teaching to meet strengths and needs of all pupils through differentiation, understanding barriers to learning, supporting pupils at different developmental stages, addressing the needs of those with special educational needs, high ability, English as an additional language, or disabilities, using and evaluating distinctive teaching approaches to engage and support them.
  • Make accurate and productive use of assessment: assess relevant subject and curriculum areas, including statutory assessment, use formative and summative assessment to secure progress, use data to monitor progress, set targets, plan subsequent lessons, give regular feedback orally and through accurate marking, encouraging pupils to respond positively to feedback.
  • Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment: clear rules and routines for behaviour, promotion of good and courteous behaviour, high expectations for behaviour, discipline framework using praise, sanctions and rewards consistently and fairly, effective class management, appropriate authority, decisive action when necessary.
