Job Description

Nibras International School is looking for a qualified Social Studies Teacher to join the team in August 2026. For all staff in the school we share a responsibility to ensure that children are always safe and properly supervised. Job Purpose
  • Set high expectations that inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.
  • Establish a safe and stimulating environment rooted in mutual respect.
  • Set goals that stretch all students, regardless of background, ability or disposition.
  • Show consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviour expected of pupils.
  • Promote positive progress and outcomes through:

- Accountability of pupils’ attainment, progress and outcomes
- Awareness of pupils’ capabilities and prior knowledge, planning lessons to build on these
- Guiding pupils to reflect on their progress and emerging needs
- Understanding how pupils learn and how this impacts teaching

  • Encourage pupils to take responsibility and conscientious attitudes towards their work and study.
Key Accountabilities
  • Represent knowledge, understanding and skills to students.
  • Lead by example in truth, justice, equality of opportunity, human rights, benevolence and compassion.
  • Engage and motivate students to exceed expectations.
  • Use excellent subject knowledge, pedagogic and interpersonal skills to enthuse students.
  • Leverage ICT and new technologies to enhance teaching and learning for all ages.
  • Plan lessons considering individual learning styles, preferences and capabilities.
  • Encourage all students to become effective, confident, independent life‑long learners.
  • Build professional relationships with colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Plan and deliver a programme of learning opportunities and activities that enrich the curriculum.
  • Co‑operate with colleagues to maintain fair and consistent disciplinary practices.
  • Communicate openly with parents about attainment and progress.
  • Keep confidentiality when speaking to parents and external parties.
  • Model good academic practice and actively contribute to department discussions.
  • Plan after‑school activities as required.
  • Support school partnership with the community, attending events as needed.
  • Other responsibilities as reasonably requested.
Teaching
  • Plan and prepare schemes of work and complete planning documentation.
  • Teach effectively to all students, considering individual educational needs.
  • Set and mark work for school, online and at home.
  • Promote intellectual, moral, spiritual, cultural, physical and personal development of students.
  • Record and report personal and social needs of students.
  • Participate in whole‑school development and share best practice.
Assessment, Recording and Reporting
  • Assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of students.
  • Provide or contribute to oral and written assessments, reports and references.
  • Guide students to set targets, improve on previous bests and provide regular feedback.
Continuing Professional Development
  • Review teaching methods and programmes of work continuously.
  • Take accountability for own development.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
Curriculum Development
  • Advise and cooperate with the principal and colleagues on course preparation, teaching materials, methods and assessment.
  • Take responsibility for specific subjects.
  • Embed UAE heritage and culture within the curriculum.
Position Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies
  • Experience: 2 years of school‑based teaching experience
Competencies
  • Outstanding performance and teaching experience in American/International schools.
  • Strong knowledge of international/American curriculum.
  • Excellent communication skills and command of the English language, spoken and written.
  • Collaborative team‑player with excellent personal skills.
  • Classroom and behaviour management.
