Position: English Trainer (Part Time)

The American University in the Emirates seeks an experienced English Trainer to join the team. The role is to provide AUE students language development services to support their academic success. Also, the English trainer supports students to achieve their academic goals and develop the skills needed to meet their educational, career, and personal goals using the full range of AUE institutional and community resources.

Qualifications & Experience

A minimum requirement of Bachelor’s Degree in American/English Literature, Applied Linguistics, or related field from an accredited university.
At least 2 years of experience teaching English in a university setting.
Experience teaching IELTS/TOEFL courses is preferred.
IELTS minimum score of 8.0.
Preferably native English speakers.

Job Description

Help students develop English language skills, including preparation for TOEFL and IELTS tests, and language development in beginner, intermediate, and advanced courses.

Coordinate the development of academic literacy through the writing lab with both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Extend English language support to students who meet AUE language entry requirements but are still struggling with their studies.

Provide academic, personal advising, and counseling in terms of writing and communication development.

Review, revise, and enhance the English Language program curriculum, student assessment, and activities.

Engage with lecturers concerning the academic writing of their students.

Market and create awareness of the writing lab amongst students in the AUE.

Support and engage with postgraduate master’s students to help improve their academic writing.
