Head of Primary School

Key Responsibilities

• Provides leadership in site-based planning to develop a school model that supports the mission, beliefs, and goals of Emirates National Schools and continually improves learning for students.
• Leads site-based planning for KG, Primary, Boys, and Girls programs, ensuring individualized plans that meet or exceed academic standards and support advanced students in line with ENS mission.
• Provides school-site leadership in curriculum implementation, instructional strategy development, assessment design, and school improvement based on data analysis and research.
• Supervises and directs Kindergarten, Primary, and Boys/Girls school vertical curriculum and instruction articulation with multi‑grade teams.
• Establishes vertical staff articulation meetings with counterpart heads of school for seamless curriculum delivery and instructional planning under principal and campus director guidance.
• Implements ENS‑approved curriculum, grade‑level sequencing, and content standards to enable accelerated learning opportunities for all students.
• Supervises instructional teaching staff to ensure delivery of a rigorous, standards‑based curriculum with formative and summative assessments.
• Stays current with local and international trends, research, and developments relevant to the school level.
• For Boys/Girls heads: directs implementation of the Exploratory Elective curriculum for grades 6–12, offering diverse extended learning experiences.
• For KG/Primary heads: provides a variety of learning experiences, both on‑site and off‑site, that apply content‑based skills.
• Establishes and articulates the school’s mission to students, staff, parents, and the ENS community.
• Encourages teacher creativity and holds them accountable for student achievement.
• Supervises all school special programs and makes appropriate student referrals.
• Reports to the Primary/Secondary Principal on instructional needs across personnel, curriculum, administration, textbooks, supplies, and equipment.
• Creates a dynamic school climate and culture.
• Supervises guidance and instructional media‑library programs to enhance student education.
• Coordinates all school‑sponsored activities.
• Manages the school budgeting process and administers the adopted budget with the principal.
• Ensures the school meets ENS Educational Quality Standards and is accredited by required agencies, maintaining continual improvement.
• Adheres to Board of Directors policies, addressing violations and recommending improvements to leadership.
• Oversees instructional supervision of staff and ensures timely reporting to Board policy and procedure.
• Annually reports student academic progress toward standards using approved assessments and benchmarks.
