Key Responsibilities- Lead, develop, and oversee the effective implementation of the IB Career Related Programme (CP) at GEMS International School, ensuring full alignment with IB philosophy, Programme Standards & Practices, and the school’s strategic vision.
- Support and guide teachers in the planning and delivery of high‑quality, inquiry‑based, concept‑driven learning, promoting consistency, rigour, and progression across all CP subject groups.
- Ensure clear vertical and horizontal curriculum alignment within the CP and across the wider IB continuum, supporting smooth transitions between PYP, MYP, and DP.
- Coordinate and quality‑assure CP assessment practices, including standardisation, moderation, and reporting, to ensure clarity, fairness, and consistency for students and families.
- Promote inclusive teaching and learning practices across the programme, supporting effective differentiation to meet the needs of a diverse international student body, including EAL, gifted learners, and students requiring additional support.
- Lead the use of assessment data and programme‑level evidence to monitor student progress, inform interventions, and drive continuous improvement across the CP.
- Oversee key CP components, including Approaches to Learning (ATL), Service as Action, interdisciplinary learning, and the CP Personal Project, ensuring strong implementation and compliance with IB requirements.
- Collaborate closely with the Principal, senior leaders, Heads of Department, and pastoral teams to support whole‑school priorities and ensure coherence across academic and pastoral provision.
- Plan and facilitate professional learning to build staff capacity and confidence in CP teaching, learning, and assessment, supporting both experienced and new IB educators.
- Engage proactively with parents and the wider school community to communicate the CP philosophy, curriculum structure, and assessment approach.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school through academic enrichment initiatives, events, and co‑curricular opportunities that enhance the CP learner experience.
- Model and uphold GEMS values and the IB Learner Profile, fostering reflective practice, professional growth, and a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A recognised professional teaching qualification at degree level (e.g.
B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent), with experience teaching at Secondary level. - A minimum of 3–5 years’ successful teaching experience, ideally within an IB Careers Related Programme (CP) environment, with evidence of strong student outcomes and effective classroom practice.
- Demonstrable experience in curriculum coordination, middle leadership, or programme‑level responsibility, including supporting colleagues, contributing to curriculum planning, and driving consistency and improvement across a programme.
- A strong understanding of IB CP philosophy, frameworks, and assessment practices, including unit planning, criteria‑based assessment, and Approaches to Learning (ATL).
- Experience working within an IB continuum school is preferred, though strong candidates from other international or national curricula with relevant leadership experience will be considered.
- A passion for inquiry‑based, concept‑driven learning, with the ability to inspire and support teachers across multiple subject areas.
