Job Overview
Arbor School seeks a Head of Design and Technology to lead the Food Technology and Resistant Materials department in the Secondary School.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be proficient and experienced in teaching Design and Technology across GCSE/iGCSE and A Level/BTEC levels. The role involves leading the team and overseeing Design Technology across KS3, KS4 and KS5.
Key Responsibilities- Safeguard and promote the welfare of students in line with Arbor’s Safeguarding framework, policy and Code of Conduct.
- Promote Arbor’s vision, mission and values positively and actively.
- Ensure practice aligns with the Arbor Staff Handbook and the Outstanding Support framework.
- Implement school policies, procedures and expected practices as directed by the Senior Leadership Team.
- Support the development and review of the Design Technology curriculum and schemes of work at KS3, KS4 and KS5.
- Prepare, deliver and evaluate schemes of work in accordance with National Curriculum requirements, emphasising challenge, pace, high‑order questioning and thinking skills to achieve highest grades at KS3, KS4 and KS5.
- Maintain a well‑ordered, safe and stimulating learning environment; lead by example to encourage high‑standard display work and celebrate successes.
- Native‑level English language skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Design Technology or a similar field, with a PGCE in Education with QTS or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years experience teaching Design and Technology in the UK or an accredited British school overseas.
- Track record of outstanding GCSE and/or A Level examination results.
- Track record of outstanding teaching and learning and ability to create a caring and nurturing classroom environment.
