Process Engineer – Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants
We are looking for an analytical, organized, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Process Engineer for Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants. This pivotal role is an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional with a passion for sustainable water management and process optimisation. You will play a key part in designing, modifying, and implementing water and wastewater treatment processes, ensuring projects are delivered effectively, safely, and in line with regulatory and company standards.
Key Responsibilities – Process Engineering, Water & Wastewater Treatment- Attend project kick-off meetings and review job files with coordination teams to fully understand project requirements.
- Process, Civil & Mechanical Design for water & wastewater treatment plants (Activated Sludge, MB , M , UF, NF & RO systems).
- Preparation of P&IDs, HFDs, and overall piping layout drawings as per project and client specifications.
- Development of process flow diagrams (PFDs) and mass balance calculations.
- Hydraulic calculations and line sizing for process pipelines.
- Selection of suitable materials for process fluids in accordance with standards and operating conditions.
- Preparation of equipment schedules, valve lists, and line lists.
- Preparation of process descriptions and control philosophies.
- Development of alarm/trip setpoint lists.
- Preparation of material lists and technical specifications for material requisitions.
- Review and approval of drawings and MTOs in line with project specifications.
- Fabrication design and detailed drawings of process tanks, skids, pressure filter vessels, and storage tanks.
- Design of compact oil–water separator units.
- Design of active and passive odour control units using activated carbon media.
- Supervision and guidance of the drafting team for timely and accurate deliverables.
- Internal coordination with other disciplines (civil, electrical, instrumentation, etc.).
- Project coordination with clients, subcontractors, and site supervisors to ensure timely project completion.
- Technical selection of pumps, blowers, dosing systems, agitators, odour control systems, valves, and instrumentation.
- Technical approval of equipment and materials as per project specifications.
- Pre- and post-engineering site surveys to validate design assumptions and as-built conditions.
- Providing technical support to proposal, production, installation, commissioning, and O&M teams.
- Guiding O&M teams in the preparation of operation and maintenance manuals for each process plant.
- Keen interest in sustainable engineering solutions, innovative treatment technologies, and resource optimisation.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development in water and environmental engineering.
- Adaptable and able to thrive in dynamic project settings with changing priorities.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in process engineering for water and wastewater treatment plants (municipal or industrial is acceptable).
- Proven familiarity with industry standards, regulatory frameworks, and environmental compliance requirements in the water sector.
