Amazon is expanding the Data Center management team in India. This position within Amazon Data Services India Private Limited (ADSIPL) requires broad Data Center knowledge with Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in as many specific fields as possible. The location for this job will be in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the overall operation and maintenance of the critical infrastructure supporting IT operations within the Indian Data Center space.
  • Lead the management of event, incident, problem, change, and cost/contract management processes.
  • Build and manage strong relationships with landlords, critical facility vendors, Data Center Construction team, Data Center Operations team, Technical Program Managers, Security team, and Logistics team in India.
  • Provide 24x7 on‑call, scheduled weekend work support, and rotational shift coverage.
  • Develop and lead a high‑performing technical team to success.
  • Manage all aspects of performance, safety, uptime, and corrective/preventative maintenance of the data center infrastructure within the region.
  • Drive strategic planning and execution of projects, build‑outs, and retrofits of facility infrastructure.
  • Manage vendor performance through high standards, accountability, and regular performance reviews.
  • Lead risk management, critical event response, and escalated incident management.
  • Operate within a complex organizational matrix and build relationships between cross‑functional teams.
Success Metrics
  • Maintain highest standards for safety and foster a world‑class safety culture.
  • Deliver 100% uptime for all customer‑supporting infrastructure.
  • Meet agreed performance metrics for large‑scale data centers across Amazon owned and co‑location sites.
  • Deliver 100% operational excellence through training and development of team members.
Basic Qualifications
  • 12+ years of management experience.
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations (feeders, transformers, generators, UPS, chillers, pumps, air handling units, etc.).
  • Experience with large‑scale mechanical and power systems.
  • Experience hiring, developing, and managing high‑performing technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering best practices, breaker coordination studies, NEC code.
  • Experience owning the operation of a mission‑critical team or product.
  • Experience with large‑scale technical operations or compute farms.
  • Experience with process improvement techniques such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma.
