Geotechnical Design Engineer

Role

Temporary and Permanent Works design of structures such as:

• Sheet piles, cantilever and tie-back design
• Reinforced Soil wall structures
• RC and mass concrete retaining walls
• Underwater structures, i.e. quay walls, revetments, pipe-anchors, etc.
• Fendering/berthing piles
• Groundwater control/dewatering

• Prepare, present and defend geotechnical and structural designs in front of Consultants and Local Authorities.
• Gather design data from site, prepare survey briefs for testing company, interrogate and assimilate SI report data, translate test data to design input.
• Identify ‘Funny-values’ and prepare professional interpretative reports of technical survey and design data.
• Manage on‑site installations and take immediate action to address and resolve site unexpected findings, followed by post‑installation design validation.

• Minimum of 5 years proven working experience in geotechnical design, with knowledge of structural design.
• Diploma or Degree in Geotechnics/Geology or Civil Engineering, or equivalent. Working experience more important than academic qualifications.

• Proficiency in geotechnical engineering principles and practices
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Experience with geotechnical design software and tools
• Ability to interpret and analyze geological and geotechnical data
• Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations
• Excellent communication and reporting skills
• Project management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently
• Attention to detail and accuracy in design calculations
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
