Description
The Group Leader – FSTD Standards & Regulatory Compliance ensures that all Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTDs) operated by the organization fully comply with applicable regulatory and authority standards. This role acts as the primary point of contact for all National Aviation Authorities (NAAs) regarding FSTD standards, certification processes, and ongoing regulatory oversight.
This position also leads the QTG & Performance Team, overseeing all qualification testing activities and ensuring devices maintain continuous compliance throughout their lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and coordinate all initial and recurrent FSTD qualifications with relevant NAAs.
- Maintain and manage the validity of all NAA certifications for flight simulators in Dubai.
- Prepare and submit NAA reports accurately and on time.
- Lead and manage Extended Evaluation Programs (EEP) as required under EASA or UK CAA frameworks.
- Lead the QTG and Performance Team, ensuring proper execution of performance testing.
- Develop and manage schedules to meet all regulatory milestones for Objective Testing (QTGs) across devices.
- Ensure adherence to CAE QMS requirements related to NAA standards within ECFT.
- Engage with regulatory authorities, instructors, engineers, and technicians as needed.
- Present documentation and submit required results to regulatory authorities during audits, evaluations, or qualifications.
- Review technical updates, modifications, and bulletins to ensure compliance with relevant NAA regulations.
- Make informed decisions and recommendations following established standards, guidelines, and precedents.
- Ensure full compliance with GFTOM (Technical Operations Manual) requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 8 years of experience with a flight simulator manufacturer, specifically in-flight performance and QTG‑related activities.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulatory frameworks and translate them into operational actions.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and motivate technical teams, fostering a high‑performance culture.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with compliance management software is highly desirable.
- Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or aviation discipline.
- Prior hands‑on experience interacting with NAAs, EASA, UK CAA, or other regulators for simulator qualification or certification processes.
- Experience participating in or managing Extended Evaluation Programs (EEP).
- Knowledge of CAE’s QMS or similar technical quality management frameworks.
