Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates (Micropolis Robotics)
About the RoleMicropolis is seeking a highly skilled High Speed Electronic Hardware Engineer
, to support the design, implementation, and manufacturing of high-speed electronic hardware
. This role is responsible for end-to-end hardware development, including schematic design, high-speed PCB layout, and close coordination with fabrication and assembly partners to ensure signal integrity, reliability, and manufacturability
.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with high-speed digital design and is comfortable supporting products from concept through prototype bring-up and production.
Key ResponsibilitiesHigh-Speed Schematic Design
- Define high-speed system architecture and signal topology.
- Design schematics for high-speed interfaces (clocks, differential pairs, data buses).
- Select components with appropriate electrical, timing, and SI characteristics.
- Define termination strategies, impedance targets, and reference plane requirements.
- Add clear schematic constraints for layout (impedance, length matching, no stubs).
High-Speed PCB Layout
- Plan and define PCB stack-up with controlled impedance and symmetry.
- Route high-speed signals following SI best practices:
- Length matching and critical length control
- Differential pair routing
- Crosstalk mitigation and clearance rules
- Proper via usage, teardrops, and serpentine routing
- Ensure continuous return paths using solid GND planes and polygons.
- Minimize EMI through careful routing, shielding, and grounding strategies.
Manufacturing & DFM Support
- Apply DFM, DFA, and DFT rules during design.
- Generate fabrication and assembly files (Gerber, drill, pick-and-place, BOM).
- Review and resolve PCB manufacturer feedback.
- Support impedance control, stack-up validation, and test coupon requirements.
- Assist during prototype bring-up, debug, and production ramp.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in high-speed electronic hardware design (experience level flexible based on role seniority).
- Strong experience with high-speed schematic design and PCB layout for complex digital systems.
- Solid understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, and high-speed interface requirements.
- Proven ability to design controlled-impedance PCBs and define stack-ups for high-speed applications.
- Experience with differential pair routing, length matching, crosstalk mitigation, and EMI/EMC best practices.
- Proficiency with industry-standard EDA tools (such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro/OrCAD, or equivalent).
- Experience working with PCB fabrication and assembly vendors, including DFM/DFA/DFT reviews.
- Ability to generate and review manufacturing documentation (Gerbers, BOMs, pick-and-place files).
- Experience supporting board bring-up, debugging, and production ramp.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate across hardware, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams.
