Position: Manager - Airbus Acceptance (Toulouse, France)

Job Purpose

The Engineering Projects section specializes in evaluating, specifying, and negotiating new and used aircraft acquisitions. We oversee the entire process, from initial evaluation and assembly inspection to final delivery and acceptance.

We develop detailed specifications for aircraft and new system installations, including Passenger Entertainment and Connectivity Services (IFE) and Cabin Interiors. Our team ensures that all regulatory requirements, safety standards, functionality, and maintainability are met for each aircraft's entry into service.

As the Manager Airbus Acceptance you will be located at the Airbus manufacturers production facilities in Europe and actively participate in Aircraft Systems Maturity and Design Review meetings to objectively assess the readiness of the aircraft to reliably operate at Emirates planned entry into service date. You are responsible for overseeing the production of Emirates Airbus aircraft, ensuring on‑time delivery and correct specification including all Emirates customizations.

When based in Dubai you will support the Engineering Project department in all aspects of aircraft definition and procurement.

In this role you will:
  • Represent Emirates in Design Review meetings and Aircraft Systems Review meetings held at the airframe manufacturers facilities primarily in Toulouse and Hamburg for the Airbus program and at other locations when required.
  • Review and assess the development testing methods, criteria and assumptions used by the manufacturer to demonstrate system integrity, reliability and maturity.
  • Challenge and influence the manufacturer where testing is considered to be inadequate.
  • Systems review includes all primary mechanical and avionic systems required to operate the aircraft including but not limited to electrical, hydraulic, fuel, water, waste, air‑conditioning, landing gear, flight controls, IFEC, cockpit avionics, servers, oxygen safety equipment, cabin interiors, etc.
  • Represent Emirates interests by communicating concerns and/or suggestions in Meeting Forums or directly to Airbus Management up to the Chief Operating Officer, providing regular objectives and well‑balanced written and verbal communication to Emirates Senior Management up to PEKA on the status of aircraft systems testing and development.
  • Communicate in a timely manner any issues that may hazard the ability of the aircraft to operate reliably by the time of Emirates planned in‑service date, and manage a team of Emirates inspectors engaged in conducting all mandatory inspections.
  • Customer inspections of the aircraft as specified in the Airbus Acceptance Procedures together with any other inspections that may be deemed appropriate.
  • Negotiate the contractual aircraft delivery Commitment Letter for each Airbus aircraft and ensure that any identified quality defects or deviations to specification are clearly itemised and suitable technical/commercial remedies are in place to completely mitigate such shortfalls.
  • Ensure that all features specified by Emirates through change request SCN MCRO and prior customization exercises are applied on the aircraft.
  • Work in close co‑operation with EK Engineering, Emirates Legal, Finance, Treasury, Flight Operations and Inflight Services departments to ensure that all relevant arrangements are in place to allow aircraft transfer of title and ferry flight to occur on contractually agreed dates.
  • Manage the acceptance and quality control of Buyer‑Furnished Equipment received at Airbus production facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with Emirates specifications and contractual obligations and that equipment fully and correctly functions when installed in the aircraft.
  • Provide weekly reports to main base on the progress of aircraft production and delivery, and ensure regular communication is maintained with main base on any updates, challenges or concerns.
Qualification

To be considered for this role you must meet the below requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Aeronautical Engineering, preferably with Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Licence.
  • 10 years experience in Engineering of which 5 years in a middle management role.
  • Direct experience of aircraft delivery acceptance process.
