Summary:
The Sr. Project Engineer for Compressor Retrofits is the Technical Leader on the projects where legacy sealing technologies for compressors and other turbo machines are upgraded to advanced seals and auxiliary systems.
The turbo machines operate in various services, including Gas Pipelines, Refineries, Injection Services, Chemical, Petro-Chemical and other Process Plants, etc. The scope of a Retrofit Project may include the shaft seal (dry or wet, including separation seals and labyrinths) and the seal system (control skid, conditioning skid and individual components, like heaters, filters, boosters, etc.). The scope may also cover supervision of turnkey services by specialized project partners for the turbo machinery overhaul and modification (rotor and/or stator), electrical and civils works, seal and system removal and installation, turbo machinery shutdown and commissioning.
YourRole:
- Lead field related activities including site surveys.
- Interact with the project manager, and a network of discipline engineers, designers, field and shop technicians on testing procedures, seal fitment, installation tooling, rotor dynamic analysis, seal and system design and documentation, electrical, turbo machinery and package engineering.
- Resolve discrepancies and contradictions on the interfaces between the project phases of Engineering, Manufacturing & Procurement, Pre-shutdown, Shutdown and Commissioning.
- Sign off critical project milestones, such as Engineering, Release to Manufacturing, Factory Acceptance Testing, Installation, Commissioning, and Start-up.
- Prepare, deliver and maintain the key project documentation.
- Provide on-demand technical support, lead quality or performance issue resolution and identify spin-off retrofit opportunities after the Project close-out.
- Act as a consultant to the front-end teams (incl. Sales) on soliciting new projects, incl. application review, scope and solution refinement.
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical):
B.Sc. or M.Sc. - Experience with either hydraulic or pneumatic systems: piping/tubing & valves.
- Experience on either manufacturing floor, assembly environment, test center or production / process plant.
- Experience with field engineering services.
- Experience with shaft sealing solutions.
- Experience turbo machinery or rotating equipment in general.
- Experience with CAD programs.
- Ability to speak, write and present in English, as a minimum.
- Passion to travel and visit field installations.
- Strong soft skills: analytical, priority setting, communication and presentation.
- Strong sense of ownership, interest to lead projects, passion for innovation.
- Knowledge of the languages spoken in EMA.
