What the Role IsAs Technical Superintendent
, you are the shore-based technical authority for your assigned vessels, responsible for safe, efficient, and economical operation in line with contractual, statutory, and class requirements.
- Full technical management of assigned vessels, including budget ownership and cost control
- Ensure compliance with statutory, class, and regulatory requirements
- Plan and supervise dry dockings, major repairs, and maintenance periods
- Monitor vessel technical KPIs and drive corrective action where required
- Lead breakdown response, incident follow-up, and continuous technical improvement
This is accountability with authority.
What You Bring- Proven experience as a Technical Superintendent or similar senior technical role
- Strong understanding of vessel maintenance systems, class, and statutory compliance
- Experience managing technical budgets and controlling repair expenditure
- Confident decision-maker with strong problem-solving capability
- Clear communicator able to engage effectively with crews, owners, yards, and internal teams
- Chief Engineer background preferred
- Experience across commercial vessels such as bulk carriers, tankers, or offshore support vessels
- Strong dry dock and shipyard supervision experience
- Analytical approach to reliability and performance optimisation
- Not a passive monitoring role
- Not a budget-free position
- Not a back-office function
This is hands-on technical leadership.
