A Civil Procurement Engineer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, equipment, and services required for civil construction projects. The role ensures cost efficiency, quality compliance, and timely delivery while coordinating with project managers, suppliers, and site teams.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and evaluate suppliers for civil construction materials (cement, steel, aggregates, concrete, etc.)
- Prepare RFQs (Request for Quotations) and analyze bids
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules
- Issue purchase orders and track order status
- Maintain supplier database and performance evaluations
- Compare quotations to ensure best value for money
- Support cost estimation and budgeting processes
- Monitor procurement costs against project budget
- Identify cost-saving opportunities
- Review and prepare procurement contracts
- Ensure compliance with project specifications and contractual requirements
- Maintain procurement documentation and records
- Coordinate with legal and finance departments for approvals
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, and site teams
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to avoid project delays
- Resolve supply chain issues or material discrepancies
- Coordinate with logistics teams for transportation planning
- Ensure materials meet technical specifications and quality standards
- Work with QA/QC teams for inspections and approvals
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and industry regulations
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- 3–8 years of experience in procurement within construction/civil projects
- Knowledge of construction materials and specifications
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
- Understanding of contract terms (FIDIC knowledge is a plus)
