Sustainability Engineer

Lead and support sustainability initiatives across construction projects by integrating environmentally responsible practices into planning, design, and execution phases. Ensure compliance with UAE environmental regulations, green building standards, and project sustainability goals to minimize environmental impact and promote sustainable construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive sustainability assessments and develop strategies aligned with project objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Implement green building standards and certifications such as LEED, Estidama, or BREEAM across multiple projects.
• Prepare, review, and update Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs) to ensure compliance with Environment Agency.
• Conduct regular site audits to monitor adherence to environmental commitments and sustainability best practices.
• Coordinate environmental permit applications, approvals, and compliance documentation with regulatory bodies.
• Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams to integrate sustainability into project planning and execution.
• Provide technical advice and training on sustainable design, construction techniques, and resource efficiency.
• Analyze project data to recommend opportunities for energy efficiency, waste reduction, water conservation, and material reuse.
• Prepare detailed sustainability reports, environmental impact assessments, and monitoring documentation for clients and stakeholders.
• Support corporate sustainability initiatives, including carbon footprint calculations and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction strategies.
• Mentor junior sustainability staff to foster knowledge sharing and professional development.
• Stay current with industry trends, technologies, regulations, and best practices; propose innovative solutions to enhance project sustainability.

Required Qualifications & Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Mechanical, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in sustainability consultancy or environmental management within construction, preferably in the UAE or GCC region.
• Deep understanding of UAE environmental regulations and green building standards such as LEED, Estidama, and BREEAM.
• Proven experience preparing and implementing CEMPs and conducting environmental site audits.
• Proficient in sustainability assessment tools and software.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong commitment to environmental protection, resilience, and sustainable development principles.
