Plant Operator – HVAC

Position: Plant Operator – HVAC
Department: Facilities / Operations / Utilities
Reporting To: Plant Supervisor / Facility Manager

We are seeking a skilled Plant Operator with experience in HVAC, cooling towers, chillers, and electro‑mechanical systems to operate, monitor, and maintain plant equipment to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operations. The role requires strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, and utility plant operations while maintaining safety and operational standards.

The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience in central cooling plants, district cooling, industrial plants, or large commercial facilities.

• Operate and monitor chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and associated electro‑mechanical equipment.
• Ensure efficient operation of central cooling systems and plant utilities.
• Perform routine checks on temperature, pressure, flow rates, and system performance.
• Adjust plant controls and settings to maintain optimal operating conditions.

• Conduct preventive maintenance and routine inspections on chillers, cooling towers, pumps, valves, and related equipment.
• Identify and troubleshoot mechanical or electrical faults in plant systems.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams for repairs and corrective actions.
• Maintain plant equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and operational guidelines.

• Monitor plant operations through control panels, SCADA, or BMS systems.
• Record daily operational data such as equipment performance, temperature readings, energy consumption, and maintenance logs.
• Report abnormalities, equipment failures, or safety concerns to supervisors.

• Follow health, safety, and environmental regulations while operating plant equipment.
• Ensure safe handling of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Participate in safety drills, risk assessments, and emergency response procedures.

• Assist in optimizing energy efficiency and plant performance.
• Ensure minimal downtime through proactive monitoring and preventive maintenance.

• Diploma or Technical Certification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electro‑Mechanical Engineering, or HVAC.
• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in plant operations, preferably in cooling towers, chillers, or district cooling plants.

• Strong knowledge of:
  • Chiller systems (centrifugal, screw, or reciprocating)
  • Cooling tower operations
  • Pumps, valves, and piping systems
  • HVAC plant operations
  • Electro‑mechanical equipment
• Familiarity with BMS (Building Management System) or SCADA systems is an advantage.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work in plant environments and shift operations
• Good understanding of safety procedures and operational standards
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and respond to plant emergencies
