Overview
The Associate Piping Engineer utilizes existing Piping procedures to solve routine or standard problems. They receive instruction, guidance, and direction from others within the team, and they will leverage their conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures related to Piping and Engineering.
Responsibilities- Perform detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on basic engineering tasks
- Apply knowledge and skills to complete routine assignments under close supervision and mentoring
- Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses, including design reports and procedures
- Organize own work to meet deadlines set by others
- Clearly communicate information, ask questions, and check for understanding
- Gain an understanding of the project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and all inter-discipline requirements
- Prepare/Review MTOs for requisitions
- Review vendor data with guidance from colleagues
- Develop awareness of costs related to own work
- Become familiar with P&IDs, Line List, Equipment Layouts, Plot Plans, Piping Specifications, and Design Basis
- Assist with the preparation of the Special Piping Items and required datasheets
- Assist with the preparation of the Piping Material and Valve specification
- Become familiar with fundamentals and Code requirements for Pipe Stress Calculations
- Become familiar with pipe Stress Analysis software (Caesar II) and assist with simple stress analysis
- Assist with design calculations like pipe wall thickness, reinforcement pad, trench/ trunnion support
- Assist with Material Requisition s, Technical Queries, Tech bid Evaluations, and Purchase Requisition s of Engineered Piping Equipment
- Review and assist with checking of the vendor documentation

Liaise With:
Engineers, Design Supervisor, and Designers of their own discipline
- Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Engineering
- 0-3 years of experience in oil and gas
- Learning the content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines as applicable; learning design techniques and analysis methods
- Preferably Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or member of professional engineering society as applicable
- Eager to learn
- Working knowledge of English, both oral and written
- HSE, TQM, and cost-conscious
- Show flexibility and ensure proper hand-over with regards to reassignment to other departments, construction sites, and fabrication yards; provision of assistance to other colleagues with heavy workloads when possible
- Managing/learning of future current working methods and software applications
- Accredited engineering degree as may be required by specific regions
- Familiar with the use of codes and standards
