Transport Planner/Modeller
Job Summary
We are currently looking for a qualified Transport Planner/Modeller with 3–5 years of experience to join our Strategic Transport Business in the Middle East. The Transport Modeller will be a degree‑qualified professional with a minimum of 3 years related experience, and ideally a Master’s qualification in a related field, with a strong working knowledge of Transport Planning/Modelling.
ResponsibilitiesThis role requires leading a variety of transport planning studies – large‑scale transport master plan assessments as well as traffic impact studies for multi‑disciplinary planning projects in the public and private sectors. Working closely with Project Managers and other planning department staff to ensure timely completion of the necessary analysis, reports and plans as assigned.
- Completion of assigned tasks
- Adherence to Atkins Quality Manual and Procedures
- Coordination with other design disciplines
- Degree in planning or transportation (minimum) and post‑university graduate status, with at least 3 years related professional work experience.
- Understanding of transportation planning, development and access planning, public transport issues and transport demand theory.
- Practical understanding of the role and importance of transport planning in development access, citywide mobility and to assist people’s needs.
- Experience providing the appropriate junction analysis to assist traffic impact assessments.
- Project experience in the Middle East and familiarity with local trends, transport planning practices and standards.
- Competence with Microsoft Office suite and Excel software.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- Arabic language communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Quick learning ability and the ability to retain new skills from a variety of sources.
- Capability to work with limited supervision.
- Some experience in project/financial management.
- Competence to assist in growing the Atkins Transport Planning Business and to sell Atkins services generally.
- Familiarity with working to Quality Assured Systems.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
- Experience with modelling software such as VISUM, VISSIM and SATURN, and with junction analysis software/microsimulation such as VISSIM, SIDRA, SYNCHRO, HCM.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including effective listening and communication.
- A positive attitude that focuses on improvement.
